MRE (Meals Ready To Eat) - Available In Malaysia?

Post by cwyap » 21 Apr 2006, 09:06

Other than Brahim's packed meals, any idea whether there are others available? I have seen the military type of MRE complete with non-fire heater but apparently these overseas products cannot be shipped into Malaysia.

I'm thinking of taking this type of stuff to Mt Kinabalu - don't have to worry about waiting in line for the kitchen use or restaurant up in Laban Rata.

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I saw a few packet (Similar to Brahim's) a few days ago at 7 -Eleven. If i'm not mistaken, it's called "Resepi Sal" or something "Sal". There was "Rendang", "Kari Ayam" and a few other. Maybe u can have a look at nearest 7-E

Actually there is one friend experimenting this MRE...
After all settle, it will be commercially distributed...
But I dont know when the time is coming...
Getting to the summit is optional, getting down is mandatory...

So, Betterman, where did you friend got his initial testing supply from? Any jalan to bring in additional stock?

Hate to makan at Laban Rata and then hike to Gunting Lagadan. Half the food would have already been digested by then! I like to sit down, relax and have a hot meal and then off to bed straight away before the climb next morning. MREs would definitely help in that sense coz @ Gunting Lagadan nak masak mi segera punya wait like eternity sebab higher altitude air lambat mendidih. And kalau ramai yang self-cook, aduss... kena tunggu lagi. :x
